I Am Rare: Scleroderma

Go Bell, Go! *THUNDER SLASH*

Bell and her friends have the autoimmune disorder scleroderma. This book is filled with fun facts about the disorder. Alongside the information is an adventure story. In the story, Bell and her friends are being followed by an ice dragon and its fire minions.

The dragon represents scleroderma. The minions represent bullies. The minion’s arrows are the unkind words children (and adults) receive in addition to struggling with this “dragon”.

Join her adventure to find out how it all ends.

I Am Rare: Scleroderma is generally written for ages 5 to 10 years old. It is intended to motivate and comfort those struggling with the disorder. This is a faith based book that encourages readers to trust God in the midst of difficulties and to rely on His strength.

Bella the Brave

The Real Bell

At just three years old Bella began to show signs of a skin condition that was first thought to be eczema. The condition was later diagnosed as scleroderma. Its visual effects spread quickly to different parts of her body and eventually threatened her internal organs. Through many sleepless nights, treatments, questions, confusion, and challenges, Bella and her family have remained strong.

She is affectionately known as Bella the Brave.

"Having scleroderma is a long, difficult and painful journey, but you can get through it. Stay strong and keep the faith".
